Reality Check: 10 Not So Cute Things About Me

Saw this on Amanda's blog, and wanted to tell you all what is very NOT cute about me.

1. Sometimes I can be really insensitive to my husband's needs...like his need to sleep, for instance... his graveyard work schedule can really suck sometimes.

2. I really like reading/watching Hollywood gossip. Sad but true. (but I only believe People & Us Weekly--all of the other tabloid pubs are full of lies!)

3. I can't keep a secret to save my life. Ok, maybe to save my life. I've kept a few secrets, but let's face it, it's really hard!

4. I only make dinner like once a week... (and mostly try to get out of it by inviting myself to the in-laws on Sundays -OK so they actually say the invitation is always there, so...)

5. I am having the WORST time trying to get myself to exercise. Eating healthy is much easier. Exercising takes changing clothes and showering a lot...

6. I kinda don't like working. I'd rather play. Or shop. Or hang out. Or eat brownies all day.

7. I very frequently forget my morning prayers. I need to hang some kind of reminder sign up...

8. I really only brush my hair when I blowdry it. And i don't wash it every day... (which is normal, I guess). You put two and two together.

9. I hate opening my mail. (unless of course, it's a wedding announcement or something like that)

10. I HATE checking my voicemails. If my cell phone wasn't a work phone, I would put something like, "don't bother leaving me a message, becuase it may take me weeks to check it." It's really bad. Sometimes I check my messages after I have like 16 of them on there. And even then, I delete the message before the person is finished leaving it...sad. Friends: don't leave me voicemails. If I see you called and I missed it, I'll just call you back.

OK I need to do this....Christmas Tag!!

First off, I seriously need to live here...

I've received a request for one Christmas Tag from Kika, and then saw another on Ariel's blog, so I'm combining the best questions of each!! I'm not going to "TAG" anyone, but you cool people out there should know you should do it too!! :)

1- What is your favorite Christmas song? This is hard. "Still, Still, Still," "O Come, O Come Emanuel," "Stars Were Gleaming" from the primary songbook, "Santa Baby," by Eartha Kit, "Mary did you Know?" by Clay Aiken, "I Wish I had a River," by Sarah McLachlan, "The Christmas Song," by Celine Dion, ALL of the Christmas songs that Michael Buble sings...

2- When was your most memorable Christmas? Hmm... when I was little, my sisters and brothers and I all slept horizontally in my king sized bed (I shared with my sister, Heather). They, being older, kept up the fantasy of Christmas, claiming to hear reindeer hooves on the rooftop! It was awesome.

3- What is your favorite Christmas treat? chocolate covered cherries (NOT cherry cordials...the kind you get from Harry & David) caramel apples, fudge, homemade caramel!

4- What do you dislike most about the Christmas season? That it goes by too fast and all of the dumb store commercials on the radio!!

Or I could live here...

5- What do you like best about the Christmas season? The music, the "feeling in the air," and the fact that so many people are actually thinking about Christ and His purpose, birth, and love for us!

6- Who is the hardest person to shop for on your Christmas list? Probably my parents!

7- If you could receive one gift without money being an issue, what would it be? I'd love it if someone paid off all of my debts...house, car, etc... :) Oh, and bought me a new wardrobe for post-pregnancy :)

8- What is your idea of a perfect Christmas Eve? Just eating Christmas Eve dinner with my family, fireplace, with my Mom reading a Christmas story, Dad talking about the Savior's birth (Luke), and opening one gift!

9- Which do you like best, eggnog, or hot chocolate? Probably hot chocolate, but I really do like Egg Nog--as long as it's the LIGHT kind...

10- Do you prefer a fancy Christmas tree, or one decorated by the kids? I'm terrible. A fancy tree. As much as I'm sure I will love my kids, I'm planning on doing a small tree with their handmade ornaments on it, so it won't ruin the decor of my nice tree :) hehe...I hope my kids don't hate me! They can help decorate the fancy tree though...within reason!

Or here...

11- What is your favorite family Christmas tradition? Eggs Benedict Christmas Morning, getting a new ornament each year.

12- Do you like fruitcake? Most, NO. But, there were some in Chile, where I served my mission, that we're bad!

13- Do you prefer skiing or snowboarding? Since I've only been skiing once, and never snowboarding... skiing?

14- Are you dreaming of a White Christmas, or do you say “Bah Humbug” to snow? LOVE the snow!! White Christmas all the way! I even got off work at 2pm today :)

15- What was your favorite gift from Santa when you were a child? My doll...I named her Victoria.

16- What is your favorite Christmas movie? #1 Home Alone, #2 Miracle on 34th Street, #3 While You Were Sleeping

17- Have you ever eaten snow? Yes, who hasn't? Although never eaten it w/ maple syrup (Ariel, haha)

18- Who do you wish could be with you this Christmas? My parents!

Or here wouldn't be too bad...

19- When do you put up your Christmas lights and decorations? RIGHT after Thanksgiving. Jordan won't let me before then!

20- Real or artificial Christmas tree? Real trees are awesome, but pre-lit fake ones are the BEST!! The less work, the better. That gives more time to do the fun part--the decorating.

21 - Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, a really nice porcelain one that Jordan's grandma collected over the years from Avon... Jordan beat out all of the other grandkids to win it a few years ago! They were all jealous. I'm totally happy :)

22 - White lights or colored? WHITE. Definitely. Colored are ghetto. BUT, if I were to put up lights on my house, I'd do white on the house, and then a red tree, green tree, and red, white, green tree maybe... I know you wanted to know all of that...

23 - Angel on the tree or star? Star currently. Yeah, I think I like that best.

24 - Open presents Christmas Eve or Morning? The sibling present and/or pajamas Christmas Eve, and the rest Christmas Morning. Although, I've TOTALLY opened them all Christmas Eve before, thanks to my DAd's impatience! :)

25 - Favorite ornament theme or color? OK, I have to say I LOVE my Christmas tree this year--dark red, light green, silver, and white. It looks so beautiful!! My favorite theme would be what we do traditionally though. Jordan and I get a pewter ornament each year with the date engraved on it. Soon we'll have tons! (already got the Baby's First Christmas one for next year!)

It would be hard, but here would work too...

26 - Favorite place for Christmas dinner? My Mom's or Shaunie & Bart's house. Good cooks in my family!

27 - What do you want for Christmas this year? I asked my in-laws for MAC eyeshadow so I can look HOT after the baby, haha...

I am...

Ok, here's another one...kinda bored at work, go figure :)

I am: versitile
I know: that my Redeemer Lives
I want: to not be pregnant anymore
I have: a bad driving record
I dislike: paying bills
I miss: Sydney
I feel: huge
I hear: office chatter
I smell: hmmm... not sure...something sweet though
I crave: being organized, clean, prepared (I'm currently "nesting"...other days I could maybe crave chocolate or something...)
I cry: in church mostly
I search: meaning, enlightenment, understanding, in gospel terms
I wonder: where our country is headed...
I regret: not playing more piano pieces that were "hard" with like 4 flats or 5 sharps, for example...and practicing more! (don't get TOO excited about this confession, Mom)
I love: my husband, unborn child, family, friends, church...and let's just be crazy: grilled cheese and jam sandwiches :)
I worry: about paying the bills next year and how long it will take Jordan to finish school
I remember: banana clips, keds, and bright blue eyeshadow
I dance: pathetically.
I don't: like pets. Will NEVER have them, mark my words!! Ok, maybe a FISH. But just ONE.
I argue: with my husband WAY less than I used to. A naturally "argumentative" person, I have to keep myself in check ALL THE TIME, esp. about politics and religion.
I write: a blog! And emails. That's it.
I win: the prize for the most car accidents caused by me--that would be 5.
I lose: way too many things. Including my mind.
I wish: we were debt-free, like most everyone, right?
I listen: to Christmas music before Thanksgiving. I also listen to a lot of talk radio.
I can usually be found: on the computer
I am scared: of getting fat in my old age
I need: to have my baby in January (will be a $250 medical bill in Jan, or a $3,000 bill in Dec.)
I forget: people's names and where I know them from
I tag: whoever wants to do this!!

3. Twizzlers Bites (Cherry, preferrably...but love black and Strawberry too!)

Another Tag

  • Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours.
  • Tag 6 fellow bloggers by linking them.
  • Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they’ve been tagged.

________________________________________________________

My Quirks:

1. I have a problem with "TMI." At least that's what they tell me...

2. I am obsessed with politics, at least right now while the campaigns are going on. But I actually would rather have the Second Coming in November than a presidential election, considering the selection we have...

3. For some reason, my brain does not even begin to understand math or science. That's why I married Jordan. The kids can go to him for help.

4. I can't stand not having nail polish on my toes. Can't.

5. I really have never been able to understand the "Dave Matthews" obsession when I was in college. I mean, he's OK and everything, but come on...

6. I really couldn't care less about animals. Well, pets, to be more exact. I do care about the dolphins I guess. But I'm hoping I won't give into my kids when they want a dog. At least I have the "I'm allergic to cats and dogs" excuse...because I really am.

7. OK I'm a big dork because I always sing songs about Jordan--not "cool songs" but I change the words to primary songs and sing them about Jordan. For example, "Honey I love you, honey I do, Father in Heaven has sent me to you..." instead of "Mother I love you..." Another one we love to sing to each other (so Jordan has joined in a bit :) is "Honey do you love me? Honey do you care for me?" instead of the "Teacher do you love me?" primary song, haha...

8. I can't do animal sounds. The best is my cow "moo" and that's about it. Jordan LOVES to tease me about this and says I'm not allowed to teach our kids the animal sounds--he will!

Ok so that was more than 6 quirks AND I tagged more than 6 people too. Sue me. :)

Ok, I tag:
Ariel Smith - Juliann Peacock - Kathryn Ariotti - Becca Walker - Michelle Kesler - Ashley Gollaher - Mainha & Painho - Marci Morgan

Another Personality Thing...

I guess I just can't resist these dumb things!! But, it was on Julianne's blog, and she has good taste :)

You Are Aurora! (A.K.A. Sleeping Beauty.)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Thoughtful and loving. Authority figures probably have been sheltering you all of your life. Thankfully you're a very tranquil person who is content with what life has given you, but secretly you want to know how the outside world works.

Which Disney Princess Are You?

Not sure if it's totally me--it was hard!! There were some questions where I really wasn't sure, or I would be sort-of one and sort-of the other! Oh well...I have always liked Sleeping Beauty though :)

My Personality Color

Kathryn and Juliann had this on their blogs--looked like fun so I decided to give it a try! Funny enough, we're all different colors! It's a fun test, but difficult to decide who you are as you answer the questions! Go ahead and leave your comments telling me if you think this is my true color!

Take this test!
You're a bold, confident orange. A warm, powerful color that indicates a strong, welcoming personality, orange is the mark of people who are social and extroverted by nature. Vibrant, with an upbeat attitude, you have a bright, inviting demeanor. Energetic and fun-loving, you're a real friend-magnet. Your easy charm and unassuming manner make you the sort of person people want to meet and get to know better. Well-rounded and fun to be around, you enjoy helping others, so it's no surprise that orange also symbolizes attraction. Orange is an extraordinary color — for an extraordinary person.
